We do NOT accept AIM, Kaiser or VA. If you have questions or need help choosing one of our providers as your PCP, please call us.
What should I do if I have a question after hours?
We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call our office (619)464-6434 to get the contact information for the on-call doctor if it is after 5 pm. You might also check out www.healthychildren.org for some good information on basic health problems--just click on the "symptom checker."
How do I choose a provider?
We want you to see whichever provider you feel most comfortable with. Regardless of who is listed as your primary on your card, if it is one of our doctors, you can see whoever you choose in our clinic. We try to schedule all of the well visits with the same doctor or nurse practitioner so that we can really get to know you. If you want to change and try out someone new, just let us know when you are scheduling.
What is the schedule of well child checks/shot visits?
Our schedule follows AAP guidelines and has children coming in for a newborn visit 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital, at 2 weeks and then again for vaccines at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 24 months, 30 months and then annually beginning at 3 years of age. Please check out our links for wellness schedule and vaccine information.
What if I want my son circumcised?
We circumcise newborns in the hospital or office, usually depending on the insurance. If the insurance does not cover it (verify it with your insurance company, as the procedure is considered elective and cosmetic), we will do the circumcision in the office to minimize your out-of-pocket charges. A typical newborn circumcision is done on a baby boy who is less than a month old and less than 10 pounds. We accept cash or credit card for payment. Unfortunately, we cannot accept checks, and do not have a payment plan; the payment is due at the time of the service. Babies who are more than a month old or more than 10 pounds are considered more complex, and determined on a case-by-case basis. If your child is more than 2 months old, it is not possible for us to perform the circumcision, and you should speak with the doctor about your options.
What if I have questions regarding shots?
Vaccines are a hot topic right now, and there is a LOT of information and misinformation available out there. There are many links available on the Patient Resources page as well as the Vaccine Safety list, which we would encourage you to take a look at to start. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to bring them to us at your next appointment, or call our office. We want to make sure that you are convinced you are making the right decision for your child. We would also encourage you to read our Vaccine Policy Statement, for a more detailed explanation of our beliefs on immunzations.
